FAQ

What kind of equipment do you use? We use insured Canon equipment and shoot with a 5D Mark III, as well as a variety of mainly prime lenses. We always carry back-up equipment when shooting weddings or events, and we prefer working with prime lenses, for what it's worth.

How far in advance should we book a session? The sooner, the better! We usually book 6-18 months out for weddings but we welcome the last-minute event. For Senior portraits and family sessions, we aim to book at least two-three months in advance. 

Do you have a studio? Yes and no. We can rent studio space as our shoots require, so be sure to let us know if that is of interest or necessity to you! 

Do you travel? Yes! We are easily persuaded to travel. Please contact us to see if your destination will require a travel fee or not. (We are located in West Michigan.)

What time do you schedule portrait sessions? We prefer scheduling photo sessions in the evening for lighting purposes, and usually aim to finish right around sunset. Additionally, early morning offers beautiful light, so that is an option as well. We are available Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday for sessions and weddings. If your event falls on a different day, contact us anyway and we'll see what we can work out! 

What should we wear? Once you book your session, we'll cover all of this with you quite painlessly. A good rule of thumb is to dress in a way that makes you and your family comfortable and reflects your personal tastes, and do take into full consideration your location and weather.

Can we bring our dog? By all means, yes. We encourage you to bring pets, props, and other personal items to help make your session everything you want it to be. You know your pet better than we do, so be sure to consider wether Fido will require another person to handle him while he's not in front of the camera (but you are).

Do you require a deposit? We only require a deposit for weddings. For all other sessions, the full payment is due at the time of booking to secure your date. If you need to reschedule , we are happy to accommodate but it will be subject to a re-scheduling fee.

Do you recommend an engagement session? Heavens, yes! The engagement session is a perfect way for us to get to know each other, and to grow comfortable working together. It helps us as photographers know how to tell your personal story with deeper understanding and sensitivity to who you are. It helps you as a couple to grow comfortable with our shooting style and working personality. And we all get to hang out and have fun making memories!

Could you describe your style? Our style is a blend of artistic photojournalism with clean, classic imagery. We aim to strike a balance between staying out of the way and allowing the beautiful moments and events to unfold before us and asserting ourselves to help pose and orchestrate a delightful day. In the end, images are artistic, true, and enduring.

Do you edit all of the photos that you deliver? Every single one is edited for color and exposure. Favorites are edited a bit more intensively.

Do you give clients the rights to the photos? All clients who purchase one of our wedding Collections will receive high resolution images with printing rights, and social media posting rights. We retain copyrights to your images for the purposes of promoting our business.   

How can I view my pictures after the photo session? You will be given a link to a private online gallery of your images. Galleries remain online for up to one month, and are password protected for your safety. You can share these images easily with friends and family. Additionally, you can log in at any time during that month to order professional prints and products.
